German steel pipe giant Butting is building its first production facility in the US

With a total investment value of USD 61 million, the project will be implemented in two phases and will create up to 100 skilled jobs in the region, offering above-average salaries.

Founded in 1777 and headquartered in Knesebeck, Germany, Butting is a global company specializing in high-quality stainless steel tubes, coated tubes, custom-made parts and cryogenic systems. The company already operates in countries such as Germany, Finland, Brazil, Canada and China, and with this investment is expanding its presence in the US.

The new facility will be built on a 50-acre site in the Loxley industrial corridor in Baldwin County. Adrian Rochofski, CEO and General Manager of Butting USA, stated that the investment decision was driven by the region's quality of life, skilled workforce, transportation infrastructure and investment-friendly environment. "We are excited to grow our presence in the US. Loxley will now be our home in North America." he noted.

In addition to Butting officials, representatives from the Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance, the City of Loxley, the Baldwin County Commission and the Alabama Department of Commerce attended the official announcement ceremony in Loxley. “Butting's decision to locate its North American headquarters and manufacturing facility here is a strong vote of confidence in Alabama's industrial infrastructure, workforce quality and global business relationships,” stated Alabama Secretary of Commerce Ellen McNair.

Two-Phase Investment Plan

• Phase 1: Establishment of Butting's North American headquarters, engineering units and production lines for high-quality stainless steel components and cryogenic piping systems.

• Phase 2: Vertically integrate US manufacturing operations, install two state-of-the-art welded stainless steel pipelines, expand the cryogenic product portfolio and add additional manufacturing capabilities.

Construction is expected to begin in the fall of 2025, with hiring ramping up in the coming weeks.

Lee Johnson, Vice President of the Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance, noted that this project is the culmination of years of work by the partners to develop the region. Loxley Mayor Richard Teal stated, "This is a historic project for our city." With the arrival of an international company, we gain new opportunities, long-term investment and global recognition."
