The Simandou iron ore mine, located in Beira Province in southeastern Guinea, stands out as a world-class, large-scale, high-quality open-pit hematite mine with resources exceeding 4 billion tons and an average iron ore grade of over 65%.
The project consists of two sections: the northern and southern blocks. The southern block is being developed jointly by Chinalco and Rio Tinto, while the northern block is operated by Baowu Steel and Winning Investment Group.
With a phased implementation and gradual production strategy, the Simandou project aims to reach a total annual production capacity of 120 million tons across both the northern and southern blocks.
