According to ArcelorMittal, funds from the EIB will be used to finance R&D projects in the fields of environmental protection, climate and energy in Spain, France, Belgium and Luxembourg.
The company conducts research in areas such as reducing carbon dioxide emissions, decarbonizing the blast furnace process, energy-saving rolling technologies, and developing new steel grades and coating types.
At the same time, ArcelorMittal is committed to reducing specific carbon dioxide emissions by 35% per tonne of steel produced by 2030 and achieving full carbon neutrality by 2050. The EIB says this activity is supported by European institutions.
