Italian long product producers tried to revive sales at the end of May with lower prices but sought increases for new deliveries.
The Italian rebar benchmark decreased by €20/t to €640/t ex-works, while the index for ductile wire rod remained at €650/t.
In the domestic market, Italian producers were willing to sell small and medium tonnages of small and medium rebar ex-works at around €640/t, with expectations as high as €690/t for June. In the domestic market, wire rod prices for drawing quality remained in the range of €640-660/t ex-works.
Italian rebar offers were reported at €610/t delivered to Germany at the end of last week, while sales to Central Europe were heard at €540-550/t. Small tonnage coil rebar was available at around €670-680/t ex-works in Germany, but demand was extremely low for large batches.
