According to the statement made by the Council, approximately 2,600 individuals and entities stated to be linked to Russia's military activities against Ukraine will remain on the sanctions list until September 15, 2026. Within the scope of the review of the sanctions, it was decided to remove two individuals from the list, while it was reported that five deceased persons were also deleted from the sanctions list.
The European Union first implemented economic sanctions against Russia in 2014, following the Moscow administration's annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol. With Russia launching a large-scale attack on Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the sanctions were significantly expanded. The duration of the European Union's economic restrictions against Russia is regularly extended every six months.
The sanctions in question cover measures such as travel bans, the freezing of assets belonging to individuals and organizations, and the prevention of providing funds or economic resources.
