Erdemir realised the 50,000th casting in Turkey's first domestic blast furnace

According to the statement made by the company, Erdemir which decided in 2006 to renew its No. 1 blast furnace, which has continued its production except for scheduled maintenance since the day it was commissioned, but which had reached the end of its economic life, commissioned the new furnace on 15 May 2008 under the name "Ayşe", which was built while the furnace continued to operate.

No. 1 blast furnace Ayşe, which is the most important indicator of the trust placed in Erdemir's engineering know-how, project management experience and competent human resources, has been continuing production without interruption since 2008. A total of 26.5 million tonnes of liquid raw iron has been produced in the furnace, where the 50,000th casting was made.

The fact that the plant reached its 50,000th casting without the need for "reline", where blast furnaces are stopped for certain periods of time for refractory replacement, maintenance of mechanical equipment and modernisation of automation control systems when necessary, demonstrates the design success and efficiency of the first domestic furnace.
