Duferco to invest €95 million for Giammoro steel plant reconversion

The Duferco Group has unveiled a EUR 95 million investment plan for the industrial reconversion of the Giammoro steel plant in Messina. The plan aims to bolster employment through projects in logistics, energy, and services.

Duferco's strategy includes developing a natural gas-powered peaker plant, managing the Giammoro Pier for logistics, and creating a Hydrogen Valley to produce green hydrogen. Additionally, the plan features a EUR 15 million investment in an electrical storage system and the revamping of photovoltaic plants. 

Gozzi emphasized Duferco's long-standing commitment to Sicily and its workers, highlighting the plan's potential to fully leverage the company's skills and assets in the region.
