JFE Steel is well known for its stainless steel production at plant number 4. It anticipates that the introduction of the STARQ® electric furnace will increase scrap utilization and lead to a significant reduction in CO2 emissions of up to 450,000 tons per year.
STARQ® is designed as an electric furnace with versatility in processing raw materials of various types and shapes. It is particularly well suited for the production of high quality steels, including stainless steel.
With a targeted annual production capacity of around 300,000 tons, the electric furnace is scheduled to be operational in the second half of 2025.
