According to the data, the number of newly established companies increased by 33.5% in July compared to the previous month, rising from 7,330 to 9,788. In the same period, the number of closed companies increased by 13.1% to 2,905. In June, the number of closures had been reported as 2,569.
July data
The number of companies established in July increased by 0.8% compared to the same month last year, while the number of closures rose by 0.6%. Compared to the previous month, the number of established companies increased by 33.5%, sole proprietorships by 46.5%, and cooperatives by 17%. In the same period, the number of closures increased by 13.1%, with cooperatives rising by 37.4% and sole proprietorships by 11.7%.
Compared to July of last year, the number of newly established sole proprietorships increased by 29.9%, while company establishments rose by 0.8%. The number of new cooperatives decreased by 40.8%. The number of closures increased by 0.6%, with cooperative closures up 14% and sole proprietorship closures down 8.3%.
Companies and cooperatives established
In July, a total of 9,946 companies and cooperatives were established. Of these, 87.3% were limited liability companies, 11.1% were joint stock companies, and 1.6% were cooperatives. In terms of geographical distribution, 37.8% of new companies were established in Istanbul, 11.7% in Ankara, and 5.8% in Izmir. By sector, 3,098 were set up in trade, 1,434 in construction, and 1,232 in manufacturing.
Among sole proprietorships, 737 were established in construction, 442 in wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, and 119 in manufacturing.
Of the companies and cooperatives closed in July, 1,100 were in wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, 355 in manufacturing, and 239 in professional, scientific and technical activities. Among closed sole proprietorships, 572 operated in wholesale and retail trade and vehicle repair, 219 in construction, and 137 in manufacturing.
In July, 158 cooperatives were established, including 111 housing construction cooperatives, 22 business cooperatives, and 8 motor carriers’ cooperatives. Others were formed in various fields.
Foreign-capital companies
In July, 675 companies with foreign capital participation were established, 22 of them with German partners and 19 with Iranian partners. Of these, 91 were joint stock companies and 584 were limited liability companies. By sector, 470 operated in non-specialized wholesale trade, 174 in residential and non-residential building construction, and 161 in business and other consultancy activities. Foreign partners accounted for 78.9% of the total capital of these companies.
January–July 2025 period
In the January–July 2025 period, the number of newly established companies decreased by 0.6% compared to the same period last year, reaching 62,014. In the same period, the number of closures increased by 11.8% to 16,582. TOBB data show that company establishments in Türkiye rose in July, while the increase in closures continued.
