In response to Özgür Özsoy's evaluations in the local magazine ST Endüstri, Çolakoğlu said, "We have reached the final stage in our artificial intelligence-supported process control project, which will ensure process stability in the production we have," adding that the company is working on new projects and renewable energy investments using artificial intelligence-supported digital solutions to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions.
Çolakoğlu Metalurji Operations Director Özgür Özsoy reported that the company's new vacuum degassing plant reached a heat size of 298.2 mt and broke a world record with a carbon content of 5 ppm after decarburization. Özsoy, who did not provide information on the company's current carbon emission levels, said that Çolakoğlu can produce special steels such as IF quality, ULC quality and stainless steel.
Having commissioned its second reheating furnace in June, Çolakoğlu aims to increase its hot rolling capacity and respond to demand more effectively. Çolakoğlu's current production capacity is approximately 1 million tons of bar and 4.5 million tons of hot rolled sheet per year.
According to Platts, an affiliate of S&P Global Commodity Insights, the domestic hot coil price in Turkey stood at $585/mt EXW as of June 28, down 18.2% since early 2024.
