Throughout the meeting, representatives of the world’s leading steel producers discussed global trends in occupational health and safety, best practice examples, and strategies for fostering a sustainable safety culture. During their visit to Çolakoğlu Metallurgy, committee members also exchanged information on the company’s environmentally friendly technological investments and its advanced OHS practices.
In addition to Worldsteel representatives, OHS managers from leading industry organizations such as ArcelorMittal, POSCO, Tata Steel, JSW Steel, and Jindal Steel attended the meeting, which concluded with the presentation of a commemorative plaque to Çolakoğlu Metallurgy in appreciation of its hosting.

This comprehensive collaboration was further strengthened when the Chair of the Worldsteel OHS Committee was invited to the first edition of the ‘Employee Safety and Well-Being in the Metallurgy Sector Symposium,’ organized by the Chamber of Metallurgical and Materials Engineers Training Center (CMMEC) This year as well, Worldsteel representatives participated in the symposium, sharing best practices and successful models that add value to the sector, thereby contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field of occupational health and safety.
Contributing to the Future of the Industry with Global OHS Developments and Best Practices
The recent appointment of Çolakoğlu Metallurgy’s General Manager, Uğur Dalbeler, as Chair of the World Steel Association for the 2025–2026 term has made the timing and significance of the meeting even more meaningful. This development once again highlights Türkiye’s strong and active role in the global steel industry. Çolakoğlu Metallurgy emphasized that the committee meeting reinforced the long-standing collaboration and represented an important step in promoting a safe working culture alongside a sustainable production approach.
