China's crude steel and finished goods production dropped for the first time since 2016.
The country's crude steel production decreased by 3 percent year on year to 1.03 billion mt in 2021, according to the Chinese National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The government's efforts to control air pollution and its restrictions on major producers since the middle of the year were effective in this decrease.
The decline in crude steel production was 0.4 points faster than in the January-November period, while the decline in finished steel production was 0.4 points slower.
