China's prepainted steel exports are estimated to exceed 6 million tons in 2023

In September 2023, China's exports of prepainted steel sheets and strip reached an all-time high of 610,000 tons. This represents an increase of 9.94% compared to the previous month and an annual growth of 52.53%.

China's prepainted steel exports are estimated to exceed 6 million tons in 2023

The main destinations for China's prepainted steel suppliers are the Philippines and India. While the Philippines accounted for 8.14% of China's exports in the January-September period, India stood out as the fastest growing market, representing 4.29% of total exports in this period.

Market analysts predict that China's prepainted steel exports will continue to increase throughout 2023, having the potential to exceed annual volumes of 6 million tonnes. However, in light of export rebate cancellations and stagnant domestic demand, China's steelmakers are determining their sales approaches. To overcome these challenges, they focus on developing high-end products and exploring new markets.
