China steel production continues to fall!

According to the PRC National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), steel production in the country in October 2021 amounted to 71.58 million tons, 2.9% less than the previous month and 23.3% less than in October 2020.

Previously, the China Metallurgical Association CISA had estimated the average daily steel production in October 2021 at 2,338 Mt, but NBS data gave an even lower value. The value given by NBS was announced as 2,309 Mt. This data was seen as the lowest figure since January 2018.

Average daily steel production in China peaked in April this year, but has been falling steadily since then. In October, it was 29.2% lower than just six months ago.

According to the ten-month results, the steel production volume in China is estimated by NBS to be 877.05 million tons, which is 0.7% less than the same period last year.

The Chinese metallurgical industry has met the requirement set by the government in the middle of the year.

According to the consulting firm Mysteel, the average daily steel production at large and medium-sized enterprises with 247 blast furnaces and 71 electric arc furnaces amounted to 2.48 million tons in the first decade of November. However, statistics generally shared higher data than NBS.
