Challenges mount as GCC steel producers cut output in September

The Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is grappling with a significant decrease in its crude steel production during the initial nine months of 2023. Concerns escalated in September as all major producing nations within the GCC region reduced their output levels compared to August, marking a challenging period for the steel industry.

Data provided by worldsteel, the World Steel Association, revealed that September posed formidable challenges for the top steel producers in the GCC, as all three major nations witnessed a 2 percent reduction in their steel production volumes. 

Economic fluctuations, supply chain disruptions, and the evolving global demand landscape have collectively contributed to this downturn.
