Organised by the Bureau of International Recycling (BIR), the BIR 2026 World Recycling Convention & Exhibition will bring industry professionals together in Malaga, Spain, from October 25 to 27, 2026. SteelRadar is among the media partners of the event, which is regarded as a major meeting point for the global recycling industry.
The convention’s plenary sessions, committee meetings, networking luncheons and exhibition will be held at FYCMA – Trade Fairs and Congress Centre of Malaga. The event will provide recycling companies, raw material suppliers, traders, industry associations and decision-makers with an opportunity to assess developments in global markets and establish new business connections.
Main programme to begin on October 26
The registration desk will open on Sunday, October 25. The convention’s main programme will begin on Monday, October 26, with the opening session and keynote speech.
The first day will feature the International Environment Council meeting, as well as sessions focusing on non-ferrous metals, electronics, stainless steel and special alloys. A welcome evening at the end of the day will give participants an opportunity to engage with international industry representatives.
Ferrous metals session scheduled for October 27
The second day of the convention will begin with a joint session of the Plastics Division and the Tyres & Rubber Committee. The programme will then continue with the International Trade Council meeting.
The Ferrous Division session, expected to attract particular attention from the steel and scrap markets, will take place on Tuesday, October 27, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. It will be followed by the Paper Division session. The convention will conclude at 5:00 p.m.
Throughout the two-day main programme, participants will be able to meet companies directly in the exhibition and networking area. A dedicated lounge for BIR Gold Members will also be available during the event.

According to the programme announced by BIR, AI-powered simultaneous translation provided by Wordly will be available in the plenary room. Participants will be able to scan a QR code and listen to the sessions in real time in their preferred language.
The organiser noted that the programme may be subject to minor amendments ahead of the convention. Further details regarding speakers, commodity experts and market analysts are expected to be announced at a later date.
