Billet prices decreased in Iran, rebar prices increased

Iranian billet prices declined this week due to low demand and weak market expectations. Rebar prices, however, continued to increase on the back of strong demand and stable market conditions. Experts say that market volatility has triggered these opposite price movements.

As of January 6, 2025, billet prices decreased by 500 rials/kg to 275,000 rials/kg compared to the previous week on January 1. Rebar, on the other hand, increased by 2,000 rials/kg to 324,000 rials/kg in the same period. Sustainable demand in the construction sector supports this rise in iron prices.

Data show that rebar prices have been on a marked uptrend in recent months, while billet prices have been more stable. This makes it clear that market dynamics have different effects on the two products.
