Automobile production increased by 34% according to the first quarter data

Automotive Industry Association announced the January-March period production and export data.

Automobile production increased by 34% according to the first quarter data

In the first quarter of the year, the total production amount increased by 21 percent on an annual basis and was recorded as 366 thousand 597 units. Automobile production increased by 34 percent and reached the level of 222 thousand 51 units.

When the tractor production of the automotive sector is included, the total capacity utilization rate, which was determined as 74 percent in the first quarter, was announced as 382 thousand 504. Total automotive exports, on the other hand, increased by 13 percent on an annual basis and amounted to 253,828 units.

The total market grew by 55 percent. In the January-March period, the total market reached 247 thousand 904 with an increase of 55 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. In the same period, the automobile market decreased by 50 percent to 175 thousand 421 units.

13 percent increase in total exports

In the January-March period of 2023, total automotive exports increased by 13 percent and automobile exports increased by 26 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. In this period, total exports amounted to 253,828 units, while automobile exports amounted to 156,763 units.

According to the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly, in the first quarter of 2023, the total automotive industry exports ranked first in the sectoral exports with 14 percent.

In the January-March period of 2023, total automotive exports increased by 17 percent in dollar terms and by 22 percent in euro terms compared to the same period of the previous year. In this period, total automotive exports amounted to 8.8 billion dollars, while automobile exports increased by 24 percent to 2.6 billion dollars. In Euro terms, automobile exports increased by 29 percent to 2.4 billion euros.
