Australia launches dumping investigation into Chinese rebar

The Commission explained in a statement that the products under investigation are hot-rolled rebar up to 50 mm in diameter, whether in roll form or not, with indentations, ridges, grooves or similar deformations on the surface during the rolling process, commonly referred to as “ribbed steel rebar”.

Products of all grades, alloy contents or coating types that meet this definition are included in the scope of the investigation, while flat round bars, stainless steels and rebar braid are excluded.

It was reported that the investigation covers the period from April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025, but that a loss investigation will not be applied. The Commission started to collect the opinions and documents of those concerned in order to assess the accuracy of the dumping allegations. In this context, the first applications must be made by July 2, 2025.

Within the scope of the investigation, it was announced that the customs tariff classifications of the products include the following HS Codes:
7213.10.00 (code 42), 7214.20.00 (code 47), 7227.90.10 (code 69), 7227.90.90 (codes 01, 02, 04), 7228.30.10 (code 70) and 7228.30.90 (code 40), 7228.60.10 (code 72).

The Commission is expected to publish its report on the main findings on September 15, 2025 at the latest, and finalize its final recommendation by October 28, 2025. The final decision is expected to be announced within 30 days after the recommendations are evaluated by the relevant Ministry.

Officials stated that developments will continue to be shared with the public.
