The commission determined that construction rebar originating from Malaysia (excluding Southern Steel), Thailand, Türkiye, and Vietnam (excluding Hoa Phat) was sold at injurious prices with dumping, causing material harm to the domestic industry in Australia.
According to the preliminary results, the dumping margin in Malaysia was set at 9.2% for Alliance Steel, Amsteel Mills, Ann Joo Steel, and Malaysia Steel Works, while the margin for other producers was 26.2%. In Thailand, the margin was 3.1% for Tata Steel Manufacturing (Thailand) and 6.7% for other producers.
For Türkiye, the dumping margin was determined as 7.7% for Çolakoğlu Metalurji, 8.6% for Kroman Çelik, 9.1% for Kaptan Demir Çelik, and 36.4% for other producers. In Vietnam, the margin was 9.5% for Tung Ho Steel Vietnam, VAS Group, and Vina Kyoei Steel, and 17.3% for other producers.
The products under investigation fall under HS codes 7214.20.00, 7228.30.10, 7228.30.90, and 7228.60.10. The final decision is expected to be announced later this year following consultations with industry stakeholders.
