The company's management described the second quarter as its strongest quarter in the past four years, while expecting profitability to decline in the third quarter due to the seasonal slowdown.
Revenue in Aperam's Stainless & Electrical Steels segment increased by 9% quarter on quarter and 6.8% year on year to EUR 1.08 billion in the second quarter, mainly supported by higher steel selling prices.
The average steel selling price rose by 9.1% quarter on quarter and 6.2% year on year to EUR 2,400/mt. During the same period, segment shipments remained stable compared to the previous quarter and increased slightly year on year to 430,000 mt.
Adjusted EBITDA in the Stainless & Electrical Steels segment increased by 68.6% quarter on quarter to EUR 59 million. Including a one-off gain of EUR 27 million recognized during the period, segment EBITDA reached EUR 86 million.
The segment's operating income also improved significantly, rising from EUR 11 million in the first quarter to EUR 62 million in the second quarter, reflecting stronger operating performance.
At the group level, Aperam also reported solid financial results. Consolidated revenue increased by 7.2% quarter on quarter and 2.1% year on year to EUR 1.69 billion. Adjusted EBITDA rose by 44.4% quarter on quarter and 16.1% year on year to EUR 130 million, while net income climbed from EUR 3 million in the first quarter to EUR 116 million.
Aperam CEO Sud Sivaji stated that the second quarter marked the company's strongest performance in the past four years, adding that improved selling prices and stronger operational performance supported the financial results.
For the third quarter of 2026, the company expects adjusted EBITDA to decline compared to the second quarter due to the seasonal slowdown in demand during the summer period. Nevertheless, Aperam expects the European Union's steel safeguard measures and the structural improvements delivered through its Leadership Journey transformation program to continue supporting its operating performance.
