63rd Damascus International Fair sets $10 billion trade target for Türkiye-Syria trade

Contacts aimed at strengthening economic and trade relations between Türkiye and Syria will continue as part of the 63rd Damascus International Fair. Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat stated that the target is to increase bilateral trade volume to $10 billion, while noting that there are significant opportunities to develop joint investments and local production models.

63rd Damascus International Fair sets $10 billion trade target for Türkiye-Syria trade

Bolat and a delegation of Turkish businesspeople will visit Syria on August 26. As part of the program, organized by the Ministry of Trade in coordination with the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), Turkish and Syrian businesspeople will come together at a roundtable meeting. Bolat will also attend the opening of the 63rd Damascus International Fair.

Bilateral trade reaches $2.2 billion

Bolat stated that developing trade relations between Türkiye and Syria on a permanent and sustainable basis in line with the “win-win” principle is among their priorities.

Bolat noted that bilateral trade volume reached approximately $3.7 billion in 2025, while in the January-July 2026 period, trade volume increased by more than 16% year-on-year to $2.2 billion.

Recalling that Türkiye participated in the fair last year with 33 companies, Bolat said that Türkiye will once again have a strong presence this year. Business-to-business meetings and roundtable discussions will be held between Turkish and Syrian companies as part of the fair.

Cooperation opportunities in construction, energy and machinery

As part of the Aleppo leg of the program, the Sheikh Najjar Industrial Zone will also be visited. The Turkish delegation is expected to meet with business representatives there to assess production and investment opportunities in the region.

Bolat stated that Türkiye has production and supply capabilities across numerous sectors in line with Syria’s market needs, noting that there are cooperation opportunities for companies from both countries in infrastructure and superstructure, construction, energy, logistics, food, textiles, machinery, chemicals, healthcare services and technology.

Bolat said that the revival of economic activity and the development of production capacity in Syria are creating new trade and investment opportunities, adding that the target is to increase bilateral trade volume to $10 billion in the coming period.

Joint investments and local production models on the agenda

Bolat stated that the aim is for economic relations between Türkiye and Syria to extend beyond trade in goods. In addition to investments by Turkish companies in Syria, the two countries’ companies are expected to engage in joint production and cooperate in third markets.

In the coming period, the focus will be on developing distribution and supply agreements, as well as joint investments, local production models and long-term commercial partnerships.
