The railway from Eti Krom's mining and ferrochrome plant to Turkey's southern port was damaged. In addition, earthquake damage and the subsequent fire in the port of Iskenderun in southern Turkey caused exports to stop.
The alternative route is Mersin port, 209km west, and the port has been put into operation, but Eti Krom products cannot be delivered to the port due to railway interruption.
