Tenaris signed a contract with TPAO for the Sakarya Gas field phase 3 project

Tenaris will supply line pipe, casing pipe, coating, and technical services for the Sakarya – Phase 3 project, which is being carried out as part of the third phase of the Sakarya Natural Gas Field operated by Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO).

Tenaris signed a contract with TPAO for the Sakarya Gas field phase 3 project

According to information published on 28 January 2026, the project is located in the ultra-deep waters of the Black Sea, approximately 170 kilometers offshore, at a water depth of 2,150 meters.Under the signed contract, Tenaris will supply 22,700 tons of seamless pipes for flowlines and a 62-kilometer monoethylene glycol (MEG) pipeline. In addition, 87,800 tons of welded pipes will be delivered for the 180-kilometer export pipeline.Furthermore, an additional 7,700 tons of pipes will be supplied for production tubing, MEG lines, and the export pipeline.

Production and Coating to Be Carried Out in Europe and Brazil

The seamless pipes will be manufactured at Tenaris’ Dalmine facility in Italy. These pipes will be coated with a three-layer polypropylene (3LPP) anti-corrosion coating by TenarisShawcor at its Villamarzana plant, along with the installation of anode pads and anti-buckling devices.

The welded pipes will be produced at the Confab plant in Pindamonhangaba, Brazil. These products will also be protected with 3LPP coating and fitted with anode pads. In addition, a 1.2-kilometer section of the export pipeline will receive concrete weight coating to provide extra stability on the seabed.

Both contracts will be executed under Tenaris’ One Line® service model, which integrates pipe manufacturing, coating, and technical services under a single framework.

Davide Mengoli, Tenaris Senior Commercial Director for Pipelines and Services, emphasized that the Sakarya Phase 3 project is technically highly complex and fast-paced, noting that the field experience gained during previous phases has made a significant contribution to the project. Mengoli highlighted that the One Line® model provides reliable and flexible solutions for such dynamic projects.

Additional 10,000-Ton Contract for Offshore Drilling

Tenaris has also signed an additional contract to supply 10,000 tons of pipes for offshore drilling operations at the Sakarya field. Part of this order will consist of pipes coated with Dopeless®, Tenaris’ multifunctional coating technology.

Applied at the factory, Dopeless® coating reduces on-site preparation requirements and allows pipes to be delivered ready for immediate use.

Olga Volkova, Tenaris Senior Commercial Director for Eastern Europe and the Caspian Sea, expressed her satisfaction with the long-standing cooperation with TPAO. She noted that Dopeless® technology is widely preferred in offshore operations due to the efficiency and safety advantages it provides, eliminating the need for personnel to enter hazardous areas on drilling platforms, enhancing operational safety, and reducing environmental impact.

The Sakarya – Phase 3 project stands out as one of Turkey’s most important investments aimed at increasing natural gas production in the Black Sea. The pipes, coatings, and technical services provided by Tenaris are expected to make a significant contribution to the timely and safe execution of the project.
