The company’s revenue from operations increased by 28% year on year to INR 2,046 crore during the period, while EBITDA rose 46% to INR 120 crore. In the same period last year, the company reported revenue of INR 1,605 crore, EBITDA of INR 83 crore and net profit of INR 34 crore.
Steel sales volume rises 21%
Revenue from Surya Roshni’s Steel Pipe & Strips segment increased 32% year on year from INR 1,207 crore to INR 1,590 crore. The segment’s sales volume rose 21% to 228,000 tonnes.
By product group, section pipe sales increased 38% year on year, ERW API pipe sales rose 207%, spiral non-API water pipe sales increased 36%, pre-galvanized (GP) pipe sales rose 53%, and cold-rolled steel pipe sales increased 30%.
Value-added products accounted for around 47% of total sales volume, while exports represented approximately 20%. The company’s order book, covering commercial sales, exports, API and spiral pipes, stood at around INR 800 crore. Of this, 78,000 tonnes consisted of API pipe export orders for the US market.
EBITDA per tonne in the steel segment increased 37% to INR 4,006, compared with INR 2,922 in the same period last year.
Surya Roshni to continue capacity expansion
The company is also continuing its capacity expansion investments in its steel operations. Three new DFT lines at its Gujarat, Malanpur and Bahadurgarh facilities are scheduled to be commissioned between August and December 2026.
Surya Roshni aims to add 200,000-300,000 tonnes of annual capacity, taking its total capacity to 1.6 million tonnes in FY27 and approximately 2 million tonnes in FY28-29.
The company is also investing INR 60 crore to add around 300,000 tonnes of capacity at its Hindupur facility in Andhra Pradesh. The new capacity is expected to be commissioned in January 2027. Total investment in the ongoing capacity expansion projects is expected to be around INR 100 crore and will be funded through the company’s internal resources.
Steel export share expected to rise to 25%
Surya Roshni maintained its full-year FY27 guidance of INR 9,400-9,500 crore in revenue and INR 670-680 crore in consolidated EBITDA.
Steel segment sales volume is expected to reach 260,000-265,000 tonnes in the second quarter, followed by a target of 280,000-290,000 tonnes in the third quarter and 320,000 tonnes in the fourth quarter.
Supported by new ERW API pipe orders from the US market, the company expects exports to account for 25% of total steel segment sales, up from the current 20%.
Revenue from Surya Roshni’s Lighting & Consumer Durables segment increased from INR 397 crore to INR 456 crore during the period, marking the company’s highest-ever first-quarter sales.
