Following the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, the “On-Site Reconstruction Project” was launched in the 18 provinces declared “Disaster Zones Impacting General Life.” To date, 121,000 residential units have benefited from support under the project, for which applications closed on 30 June. In areas where ground studies have been completed, moderately or heavily damaged, or collapsed dwellings are being reconstructed on their original plots.
Support Package:
- Residential units: TRY 750,000 grant + TRY 750,000 interest-subsidized loan + TRY 40,000 project support
- Commercial premises: TRY 400,000 grant and loan combined
- Dwellings with integrated barns: Support up to TRY 1 million
These measures aim to enable citizens to rapidly access safe, resilient housing.
Delivery Target:
Coordinated by TOKİ (Housing Development Administration of Turkey), the Presidency of Urban Transformation, and relevant institutions, reconstruction works are underway across 3,481 construction sites in 11 provinces with completion targeted by year-end. A ceremony scheduled for 27 December is expected to mark the handover of approximately 455,000 housing units.
“We are racing against time”
Minister Kurum emphasized that families who have moved into homes completed in just five months in Kahramanmaraş are now living in peace and security and underscored that efforts continue uninterrupted to deliver keys to citizens as swiftly as possible.
