Number of wage employees increased annually in March

Number of wage earners increased by 2.6 percent in March compared to the same month of the previous year.

Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the number of wage employees for March.

According to the figures, the number of wage earners in industry, construction and trade-service sectors, which was 14 million 839 thousand 534 people in March 2023, increased by 2.6 percent to 15 million 225 thousand 128 people in March this year.

Employment in the industrial sector decreased
In the mentioned month, the number of wage earners decreased by 1 percent on an annual basis in the industrial sector, while it increased by 9.3 percent in the construction sector and 3.5 percent in the trade-service sector.

Seasonally and calendar adjusted number of wage earners in industry, construction and trade-services sectors decreased by 0.1 percent in March compared to the previous month.

In this period, the number of paid employees decreased by 0.4 percent in the industrial sector and 0.1 percent in the construction sector, while it increased by 0.1 percent in the trade-services sector.
