With this acquisition, the company plans to turn Kurosaki Harima into a wholly owned subsidiary. The acquisition process is expected to start around February 2026.
Kurosaki Harima has advanced technology in the field of steel refractories and operates both in Japan and abroad, especially in India, Europe and Brazil. With this move, Nippon Steel aims to strengthen ties with Kurosaki Harima's domestic and overseas operations, further enhance its technological capabilities in steel processing, and increase its profitability on a global level.
Founded in 1919, Krosaki Harima contributes to Japan's basic industries, especially the iron and steel sector, through the production and sale of refractories under the corporate motto “better, faster and cheaper”. The company is also engaged in the production of fine ceramics and living space ceramics based on material technology developed from refractories. Having passed its 100th anniversary, Krosaki Harima continues to provide value both in the industrial field and in everyday life.
