Within the scope of the memorandum, the Governor of Sudan’s Red Sea State, Mustafa Mohamed Nour Mahmoud, visited the city of Mersin in Türkiye together with an accompanying delegation and business representatives, holding a series of meetings. In the first leg of the program, the Sudanese delegation paid a courtesy visit to Mersin Governor Atilla Toros at his office. After signing the Governorate’s Book of Honor, Mahmoud emphasized during the meeting the potential for trade and economic cooperation between Türkiye and Sudan.
Following the visit, the delegation proceeded to Mersin International Port (MIP) for an on site inspection. During a presentation by MIP officials, detailed information was shared about the port’s technical infrastructure, operational capacity, and its strategic role in regional trade.
After the inspections, the “sister port agreement” between MIP and Port Sudan was officially signed in a ceremony. The agreement was signed by Yüksel Nuri Peker, MIP Group Manager for Corporate, Human Resources, and Public Relations, and Hamida Al-Hajj Mahjoub, Deputy General Manager of the Sudan Ports Corporation.
