U.S. crude steel production increased by 9.8% on a weekly basis

In the week ending October 18, 2025, U.S. crude steel production rose by 9.8% year-on-year.

U.S. crude steel production increased by 9.8% on a weekly basis

According to data from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), U.S. domestic crude steel production reached 1,744,000 net tons in the week ending October 18, 2025, with a capacity utilization rate of 76.1%.

In the same week last year, production was 1,589,000 net tons and the capacity utilization rate was 71.6%, indicating a 9.8% year-on-year increase in U.S. crude steel production.

Compared with the previous week ending October 11, 2025, production rose by 1.3%, up from 1.722.000 net tons with a capacity utilization rate of 76.0%.

Year-to-date adjusted crude steel production as of October 18, 2025, totaled 71.964.000 net tons, with an average capacity utilization rate of 77.0%. For the same period last year, production was 70.116.000 net tons and the capacity utilization rate was 75.8%, representing a 2.6% increase in production year-to-date.

Regionally, in the week ending October 18, 2025, production was recorded at 114.000 net tons in the Northeast, 559.000 in the Great Lakes, 212.000 in the Midwest, 790.000 in the South, and 69.000 in the West, totaling 1.744.000 net tons.
