According to the data of Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), İstanbul ranked first with 22 thousand 103 house sales. İstanbul was followed by Ankara with 11 thousand 975 houses and İzmir with 7 thousand 817 houses. Ardahan with 48, Bayburt with 67 and Gümüşhane with 91 were the provinces with the least number of houses sold.
House sales increased by 25.4% in the first five months of the year
In the January-May period, house sales increased by 25.4% compared to the same period of the previous year and realized as 584 thousand 170.
Large increase in mortgaged sales
In May, mortgaged house sales increased by 95.9% compared to the same month of the previous year and reached 19 thousand 412. The share of mortgaged sales in total sales was announced as 14.9%.
Mortgaged house sales in the first five months of the year increased by 98.7% and reached 88 thousand 606. In this period, 21 thousand 62 of the mortgaged houses sold were recorded as first-hand sales.
More than 110 thousand houses changed hands in other types of sales
In May, house sales other than mortgaged sales increased by 9.9% to 110 thousand 613. The share of such sales in total sales was 85.1%. In the January-May period, house sales in this category increased by 17.7% to 495 thousand 564.
First-hand house sales increased by 11.2%
First-hand house sales increased by 11.2% in May and became 39 thousand 546. Its share in total sales was announced as 30.4%. In the January-May period, first-hand sales increased by 17.7% to 174 thousand 55.
More than 90 thousand houses changed hands in second-hand sales
Second-hand house sales increased by 20.6% to 90 thousand 479 in May. The share of such sales in total house sales was 69.6%. In the January-May period, second-hand sales increased by 29.0% to 410 thousand 115.
House sales to foreigners decreased
In May, house sales to foreigners decreased by 14.2% to 1,771. The share of foreigners in total sales was 1.4%. The highest sales were realized in İstanbul (648), Antalya (594) and Mersin (145).
In the January-May period, house sales to foreigners decreased by 13.7% compared to the same period of the previous year and became 7 thousand 789.
The highest number of sales to Russian citizens
In May, the highest number of house sales by country nationalities was made to citizens of the Russian Federation with 274. Russia was followed by Iran with 133 sales and German citizens with 127 sales.
