Looking at the details, 200 series stainless steel production decreased by 16.78% month on month to 687,000 tons, but showed an increase of 3% on an annual basis. 300 series stainless steel production amounted to 1.581 million tons, with a monthly decrease of 1.31%, and an annual increase of 25.41%. 400 series stainless steel production amounted to 625,000 tons, with a monthly decrease of 6.38% and an annual increase of 56.64%.
Although stainless steel disc prices in January started at a low level at the beginning of the year, the SS contract rose to 14,400 yuan per ton, and activity was observed in the stainless steel processing industry. Despite the seasonal maintenance period, enterprises producing 300 series stainless steel continued their production. Some steel producers, on the other hand, maintained the level in December despite the slight decrease in maintenance production.
In February, stainless steel production in China's domestic market is expected to be 2.684 million tons, a decrease of 7.22% compared to the previous month.
