Türkiye's hot-rolled coil (HRC) imports increased year on year in June 2026, while recording a decline in the first half of the year.

According to information compiled by SteelRadar from data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), Türkiye's HRC imports in June increased by 4.07% year on year, rising from 288,520 tonnes to 300,256 tonnes.

Compared with May, imports increased by 3.08%. HRC imports, which stood at 291,275 tonnes in May, rose to 300,256 tonnes in June.

In the January-June period, Türkiye's total HRC imports declined by 6.67% year on year, falling from 1,857,016 tonnes to 1,733,085 tonnes.

In the first six months of the year, the largest volume of HRC imports came from the Russian Federation, at 409,846 tonnes. The Russian Federation was followed by China with 341,806 tonnes, Japan with 179,162 tonnes, South Korea with 153,336 tonnes and Egypt with 148,009 tonnes.

Meanwhile, among the top five suppliers in the January-June period, imports from Japan increased by 27.22%. In contrast, purchases from China fell by 51.82%, Egypt by 39.23%, South Korea by 9.75% and the Russian Federation by 1.21%.

In June specifically, imports from the Russian Federation and Japan increased year on year, while purchases from China and South Korea declined.
