Divergence is evident across the Balkan steel markets. While demand and summer trading activity remain weak in Romania, construction and infrastructure activity in Bulgaria and the Western Balkans continues to support consumption.
In Romania, HRC market offers are being discussed at around EUR 750–760/t ex-warehouse, while contractual transactions are seen at EUR 710–720/t. Buyers’ interest in new purchases remains limited due to sufficient stock levels and low summer activity.
Türkiye's position as a supplier in the Western Balkans also remains strong. Following the shutdown of local production in Albania, the resulting supply gap has increased the importance of producers from outside the region, particularly Türkiye.
Overall, low trading activity remains the key feature in Romania, while Bulgaria and the Western Balkans are showing a stronger physical demand outlook. Going forward, market participants will closely monitor how trading activity and demand develop, particularly with the arrival of September.
