Türkiye recorded the highest HRC exports of the last two years in December 2023

According to data compiled by SteelRadar from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Türkiye's imports of hot rolled coil (HRC) increased by 8.53% in 2023 compared to the previous year, while exports decreased by 8.35%.

Imports increased throughout the year

HRC imports increased by 8.53% from 3.9 million tons in 2022 to 4.2 million tons in 2023. In December, Türkiye's HRC imports decreased by 10.57% from 288,057 tons to 257,640 tons compared to the same month of 2022. Compared to the previous month, it dropped by 20.94%. December was the month with the lowest imports throughout the year, while the highest imports were recorded in May.

217,140 tons exported in December

Türkiye exported 8.35% less HRC in 2023 compared to the previous year. HRC exports decreased from 1.5 million tons in 2022 to 1.4 million tons in 2023.

Exports realized in December reached the highest export figure of 2022-2023. It increased 229.78% compared to the same period of 2022 and 73.13% compared to the previous month to 217,140 tons. The lowest exports in this period were recorded in January.
