Rebar and wire rod prices in Poland remained stable in the recent period

Polish producers kept their wire rod and rebar offers stable as local rebar prices in Poland remained virtually unchanged in the past week due to a slowdown in the trading market.

Rebar and wire rod prices in Poland remained stable in the recent period

Local rebar prices remained largely unchanged in Poland last week due to a slowed trade market. Polish producers kept their wire rod and rebar offers unchanged for this specific reason. According to sources, producers have been trying to achieve higher prices due to higher production costs, but they have not been able to make a difference as the current level is also high.

For rebar, offers of 2,800 Polish zlotys ($693) per tonne CPT were maintained at 2,800 zlotys ($693) per tonne ex-works last Friday, compared to 2,780 zlotys per tonne ex-works. However, there were offers higher than 2,850 zlotys per tonne CPT, bringing the ex-works price to around 2,820 zlotys. These prices do not reflect the real market, sources said.

According to buyers and distributors, the local level in Poland is running between zloty 2,730 and 2,750 per tonne CPT for rebar, which means that ex-works prices will be between zloty 2,710 and 2,730 per tonne.

According to another source, demand was higher this week compared to last week, but no significant changes were reported. Most producers are expected to update their prices in the coming weeks, the source added. Rebar prices, which are expected to remain stable until the end of the year with no major changes, stood at 2,760-2,780 zloty CPT per ton on the secondary market.

Offers for imported material from Germany were around €610 ($662) per ton CPT, while import offers from Ukraine were priced at €560 per ton at the DAP border. It was also noted that the Zloty was higher than the Euro in exchange rates, which encouraged imports.

As for wire rod, there were no significant changes in prices compared to the week of November 10, with Polish mills offering wire rod in the range of 2,900-3,100 Polish zloty per ton CPT this week. As for steel wire rod (drawn grade) for Polish delivery, prices hovered around zloty 2,850-2,900 per tonne on Friday, with no significant difference from last week.

As for imported material, offers from European mills were around €625-630 per tonne CPT, while offers for Ukrainian web-grade imports stood at €605 per tonne ex-works.
