Increasing its use of renewable energy, NLMK Verona covered 23% of its total energy demand from renewable sources and sourced 100% of its electricity from the grid from renewables. Having completed the ISO 50001 Energy Management System certification and the EPD certification process, the company also made major progress in waste management: total waste volume decreased by 30%, while waste sent for recovery increased by 32%. On average, 90% of raw materials used in production came from scrap steel.
In corporate governance, NLMK Verona achieved a successful year as well, earning a Gold Medal in the EcoVadis sustainability assessment, placing it among the top 5% of global companies. The company continues to reinforce its commitment to ethics and compliance through an ISO 37001-aligned Anti-Bribery Policy and an effective whistleblowing system.
In social responsibility, the company recorded zero fatal accidents and serious injuries in occupational safety. 97% of its 308 employees are on permanent contracts. The company provided 4,782 hours of additional training, with female employees receiving more training hours on average than male employees. Donations and sponsorships to local communities exceeded EUR 50,000, and the “Family Day” event further strengthened community relations.
Completing 2024 with EUR 317 million in revenue, NLMK Verona demonstrated a sustainable industrial model despite economic stagnation, contributing to stakeholders with EUR 22.8 million allocated to employee salaries and benefits, and a total economic value of EUR 345 million.
