China asked Russia to delay Ukraine offensive the USA intelligence says

According to the news in the New York Times, some American and British intelligence officials have reached the information that China demanded from Moscow in early February to postpone its plan to attack Ukraine and wait until the Beijing Olympics are over.

American officials claimed that the request may have been made when Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing for the opening ceremony of the Olympics.

In the news that cited the intelligence report in question, it was pointed out that after the meeting held in Beijing while the Winter Olympics in China continued, a joint statement was published declaring that the partnership between the two countries was "unlimited" and condemning the expansion of NATO.

Russia launched military action right after the Olympics
The report also said, "China held the closing ceremony of the Olympics on February 20. The next day, Putin ordered more Russian troops to enter a rebel-controlled area of eastern Ukraine." statement was included.

It was noted that Liu Pengyu, spokesman for the Chinese Embassy in Washington, said that the allegations in question consisted of "speculations and accusations without any basis".

China criticized the sanctions imposed on Russia by the US and European countries, and Foreign Ministry spokesman Vang Venbin said that Russia and Ukraine "must seek a political solution that includes legitimate security concerns on both sides".

China refrained from using the words "occupation", "attack" regarding the war in Ukraine, and became one of the 35 countries that abstained in the vote in which the UN General Assembly approved a resolution yesterday condemning Russia's military attacks on Ukraine.
