The new fume-treatment plant will serve the existing EAF 1 and allow Sestao to fully exploit the potential of its two EAFs, increasing annual production up to 1.6 million tons. The facility, which will achieve dust emissions below 3 mg/Nm³ at the stack, features a refractory-free quenching tower, Danieli-patented modular filters, and variable-frequency ID fans.
The new VD station will enable high-quality clean steel production with precise chemical control and low nitrogen and hydrogen content. Its compact design allows integration into the existing meltshop, ensuring efficient ladle and process logistics while enhancing operational safety. Danieli Automation electrical and process control systems will be integrated with the existing meltshop E&A system.
The new equipment is scheduled to be operational by August 2026.
