The Canada Customs Services Agency (CBSA) has initiated an anti-dumping investigation concerning rebar imports from Bulgaria, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates. This action follows allegations that these imports are being sold at unfairly low prices within Canada, potentially harming local industries.
The investigation was triggered by a formal complaint from key industry players including ArcelorMittal Long Products Canada, GP, Gerdau Ameristeel Corporation, and AltaSteel Inc. Over the next 90 days, the CBSA will conduct a thorough review and is expected to issue a preliminary decision. If evidence of dumping is found, provisional duties may be applied to the imports from these countries to level the playing field for Canadian manufacturers.
